Adrienne Harris has more than 25 years’ experience in tourism and other industries. Not only has she been successful at an operational level, but has also proven her worth at a strategic level. Whilst most of her experience has been in various aspects of the tourism industry, her adaptability has allowed her to work in a number of other industries such as IT and Tele-Communications. Her experience encompasses virtually all aspects, as well as sub-sectors, of the tourism industry and this (combined with experience in other fields) has proved invaluable in terms of being able to take a holistic approach when working on projects. In addition, her experience has been gained working both in the corporate environment as well as with Government, various international development agencies and NGOs. In recent years, she has been recognised as a key tourism development specialist in Africa and is often asked to provide input on a multitude of projects. She has worked not only at a country and regional level, but also at a more micro level, with a special interest in small business development and community beneficiation. Successful projects have been carried out in South Africa and a number of other sub-Saharan countries. She has lectured at a number of universities and schools of technology, and has participated in numerous conferences, workshops and panel discussions, both locally and internationally. She has also authored and co-authored several publications. In her time with the World Bank Group, (mainly with the International Finance Corporation - IFC), she programme managed a number of donor-funded projects throughout Africa. In addition, Adrienne spent some six months in the donor-relations department of the IFC, where she worked directly with donors as well as the multi-donor funded programmes. This gave great insight into the overall relationship and reporting requirements expected by the various donor agencies.
