My career started at Deneys Reitz Attorneys in Cape Town after completing my Masters in Shipping Law (in the Netherlands at the Erasmus University) where I was able to obtain training focusing on general litigation and shipping law. Since the law firm, I joined PriceWaterhouseCoopers as a junior tax consultant. I joined the Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) in 2005 first as deputy director at the Industrial Development Division as DD Creative Industries for more than five years. And since June 2012 I am employed as Deputy Director BEE Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement at the Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) Chief Directorate within the dti. In my current position I am mandated to oversee the effective development, gazette and implementation of Sector Charters (ten Sector Charters) and related BBBEE strategies at sector level. Since joining the public service my area of focus and passion has always been on development and implementation of policies and strategies for the transformation and growth of the South African economy.
