Kiera Schoeman

At this time I am pursuing my Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Tourism Management at the North-West University. My thesis is entitle: ‘A perceived‐value model for Tourism Experiences’. I am currently conducting my research through the Mediterranean Shipping Cruise (MSC) Company, South Africa. The research which I have conveyed in the past few years has given me an extensive understanding of the importance of Tourism in South Africa. This includes the value of a tourist/ visitor experience and the benefits which it adds not only to our country’s economy but to the wider spectrum of key players in the Industry. If chosen I would be honored to serve on the adjudication panel for the Visitor Experience Awards, because of the extensive understanding which I have of the Tourist/ Visitor Experience in South Africa. I completed research studies and reports in a large number of tourism fields and related areas including: research surveys the economic impact of tourism and also research papers for TREES (Tourism Research and in Economic Environs and Society). I was appointed as a part-time lecturer at the Department Transport Economics, Logistics and Tourism, UNISA where I lectured two NQF Level 5 & 6 subjects. I currently work as a Tourism Development and Research Specialist at Urban-Econ, where I conduct research based on tourism in South Africa and consult with key stakeholders in the Tourism Industry
