Sheila has extensive experience and expertise as an Industry stalwart in all areas of the tourism sector pertaining to South Africa and in particular the Emerging SMME sub-section with an emphasis on Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Development. As a Community leader, role model, transformation champion and change agent, she has served the greater interests of the tourism Industry with distinction for over 22 years since establishing the first Black Urban Township based Guest House in Tembisa during 1994. The multi- award winning “The View Guest House” has blazed a trail of achievement and success over the years, from being ETEYA finalist the year 2002 to receiving a Torch Bearer in Tourism Award 2006, to being recognized as a ground breaking role player in the Tourism and Creative Industries and receiving the Gauteng Department of Economic Development’s inaugural Woman Entrepreneur of the Year, Township Entrepreneur Awards (TEA) for 2016. She has served the Tourism Industry as Board Member and Director of Tourism Marketing South Africa (TOMSA), Tourism Grading Council of South Africa (TGCSA), in addition to being a THETA certified Assessor, Culture Arts Tourism Heritage Sports Sector Education Training Authority (CATHSSETA) where she was a member of the Executive and Bid-Adjudication Committees and Chairperson of the Travel and Tourism Chamber. She is currently Chairperson of the Ekurhuleni Travel and Tourism Association, a Board Member of the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA), a Board member of the National South African Geographic Names Council and a Trustee of Ekurhuleni Peermont Chambers of Commerce Trust, in addition to being an office bearer in National African Federated Chamber of Commerce and Industry(NAFCOC) at both Gauteng Provincial and National level.
