Khwezi

KHWEZI KAMPUMLWANA

Is a specialist on Liberation Heritage. His work in the past two decades has involved different kinds of innovative tourism approaches applied to cultural heritage. Khwezi is currently responsible for South Africa’s World Heritage Listing Programme of Liberation Sites under the leadership of the National Heritage Council. His past roles include being the first CEO of Nelson Mandela Museum in Qunu, Mvezo and Mthatha; and being part of the founding management team of Robben Island Museum. Previously worked at the Mayibuye Archives and ERIP. He has gained international experience and exposure in Public Planning, Cultural Heritage Management, Content Industries, value chain work including tourism. He is co-author or co-curator of various articles and exhibitions. Has co-convened numerous dialogue forums on questions of Liberation Heritage. His work has benefited from and contributed to demonstrating the value of integrated approaches, of collaboration across sectors, across countries and continents. He has represented South African interests in different parts of the world in the past 2 and half decades. Khwezi advises on Creative Industries as applied in Rural Development, Inner City Renewal, Exhibition Development, Organisational Capacity Building and International Co-operation. Khwezi is a Graduate of the University of the Western Cape, is of among others the Alumni of the Salzburg Seminar, the Singapore Co-operation programme and International Visitor Programme.
