Heinrich Spies is a registered Grading Assessor for the Tourism Grading Council since its inception in 2010. He was a Grading Consultant for Satour and got exposed to the environment of accessibility. When Cape Able initiated accessibility in Cape Town, Heinrich and Russell Vollmer were ready to get started. However, TGCSA invited both of them to rather begin a National Universal Accessibility system. Phillip Thompson and Heinrich travelled throughout the RSA to evaluate the state of accessibility in the hospitality industry and ended with a comprehensive but negotiated Technical Accessibility Manual. Heinrich studied Fine Arts at Stellenbosch, and then ventured into hospitality by Owner Managing a 30 bed Country Hotel for 11 years. He is still very passionate on providing access to all people.
