Motsidisi (Tshidi) Maria Kgabo Tshidi is the Founder and the Owner of Batshidise Mokgatla Assistance (Pty) Ltd, which has been in existence since 2012. She is very passionate about the empowerment of entrepreneurs, and the upliftment of townships. She has close to a decade of experience and expertise in this respective field and industry. She has become a seasoned specialist in business development. She has been serving as an Executive Committee Member Ekurhuleni Travel and Tourism Association (ETTA) for over three years, the Deputy Secretary General of the National African Federated Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Gauteng and the President of National African Federated Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Tshwane. She is an experienced professional with more than 10 years of experience emphasizing sales, marketing, business development and events coordination at learning centres, businesses and communities. Skilled and knowledgeable with all tools and blueprints related to business development and events coordination. She is highly customer-centric with excellent relationship building skills as evidenced by achievement in building existing and new businesses annually, primarily through referrals. She has strong marketing skills to build new business and cultivate existing customer relationships, self- confident, organized, and motivated. She brings creativity and an entrepreneurial spirit to all business endeavours. Tshidi started her career in the tourism industry at ETTA as the membership coordinator and a project convenor. She was later promoted to serve as a member of the Board Member of Association. ETTA is the official pre-eminent business growth focused tourism association in Ekurhuleni. This dynamic proactive organisation aims to bring about sustainable economic transformation to Ekurhuleni through Tourism via the rollout of the OR Tambo Aerotropolis development project. To create a cohesive representative voice of business opportunities, as we interact with government stakeholders and regulatory agencies. Prior to joining the Tourism and Hospitality industry, Tshidi worked at the then Department of Local and Provincial Government which is now called the Department of Local and Economic Development under the Disaster Management and then moved to the Communications Department, The Development Bank of Southern Africa under the Risk Management Department heading the Collateral Management Unit. Her area of involvement includes business management, hospitality, retail, travel and tourism. To demonstrate her entrepreneurial ability in business, she initiated and convened the first ETTA Tourism Awareness Funwalk 2016, raising the profile of Tourism and its benefits within our communities, and promoting Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Region, as a destination of choice in the wider market place and we were also honoured by the presence of the Deputy Minister of Tourism Mrs Thoko Xasa, for the first time in Tembisa. Tshidi identified experiences in Tembisa that felt authentic, responsible, that would touch tourists emotionally and spiritually, and would engage tourists and promote responsible tourism in the township of Tembisa. These products were presented at the Gauteng Township Experiences Challenge. Tembisa won the challenge and products were showcased at the World Travel Market Africa in Cape Town. She has promoted Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Region Tourism Products as an exhibitor at Tourism at Meetings Africa 2016 and at Durban Indaba in 2016 and 2017 and wish to continue to participate next year 2018, so as to grow our impact in the market place, and build on the network contacts we have established. In addition to her Advanced Diploma in Project Management qualifications, Tshidi has a Diploma in Business Studies, Certificate in Investment Appraisal and Risk Analysis, Tourism Practitioner and Certified as an Education Training and Development Practitioner. It would be a great honour to be given an opportunity to participate as an Adjudicator in the prestigious National Department of Tourism Lilizela Awards 2017, thus building the ETTA brand on a National basis with my fellow Adjudicators and South African Tourism.
