Fyna is a tried and tested Educationist and Skills Development Specialist with in depth experience and expertise within the Tourism and Hospitality Industry. She spent all her career life as a teacher until she started her own Training Consultancy business. Once a Teacher remains a Teacher. She is the founder of Phambili Tourism and Development consultancy which is a Training Academy fully Accredited with Cathsseta. She was lucky to have been mentored by Tourism Business Guru’s like Sadha Naidoo of Tourism World, Ornica Mukhavhuli of African Global Skills Academy, Nhlanhla Majozi of Corporate Skills and Development Services and ProServ SA who taught her sharp business skills and quality assurance earlier when her company project managed their National Training Projects across the Eastern Cape during 2010 World Cup. Through Tourism World she also got exposed in project managing Green Volunteers Project during 2010 World Cup. Her role was to recruit and train unemployed BSc Graduates on Greening and Know your Country, Know your City Programme. She was also responsible for placement of Green Volunteers in Visitor Information Centres, Airports, Host City Stadiums and Tourist Attractions where they were educating visitors on environmental issues for the duration of the World Cup. All those Green Volunteers were carefully selected as she was responsible for screening them. Today all of them occupy important positions in Govt and Private Sector and are successful in their own right. Fyna holds a BA Honours Degree from Rhodes University majoring in Culture and Tourism and string of Diplomas and Certificates. She is also the Accredited Cathsseta Assessor, Moderator, Coach and Mentor. She is the Accredited SA Host Trainer which is the service excellence programme to improve service standards and attitudes. She has trained various tourism products and tourism officials over the years. Fyna has also been an accredited Trainer for Fair Trade in Tourism SA to roll out Responsible and Sustainable Tourism Workshops in areas where there is potential for tourism to grow. Her role was to educate communities to identify tourism projects that will benefit them directly and their future generations as they are land owners. She was involved in capacitating successful community run Bulungula Lodge, Masakala Community Driven Project in Matatiele, Coffee Bay Communities and Mdumbi in the Wild Coast. Fyna was also one of the Trainers appointed by SAB ( South African Breweries) to roll out Mahlasedi Business Skills Training and Mentorship to Tavern Owners. Presently Fyna is the Accredited Grading Assessor Registered with Tourism Grading Council of South Africa since 2008. Her key role is to visit different types of Accommodation Establishments for the purpose of making sure that all Accommodation Establishments in the Eastern Cape meet Minimum Grading Requirements. She visits Hotels, Guesthouses, Lodges, Bed & Breakfasts, Self-Catering Units, Country Houses, Conference Venues, Caravan Parks, Backpackers and Hostelling where she advises clients on how to improve service to meet the ever changing needs of consumers both Domestic and International travellers. Among the National Hotel Groups that are under her portfolio include Tsogo Sun Garden Court Mthatha, Tsogo Sun Garden Court East London, Premier Hotel Group of Hotels in East London which include 5 Star popular East London International Convention Centre, 4 Star Premier Hotel ICC, Premier Hotel Regent and Premier Hotel King David among others. Through her expertise and accomplishments, she has the capacity to add value to her clients businesses to improve productivity and service. She has also developed excellent business relationships with various Tourism Stakeholders in all spheres of government both Nationally and Locally.
